Java Jive has had astounding impacts on audiences in past performances.Java Jive features music of the 1930s and 40s during a Feb. 12 performance at Montcalm Community College.

One fan says, “It was great to hear your group – great music, voices and instrumentalists.”

Java Jive’s exceptional style combines female vocals with upright bass, jazz guitar, woodwinds and percussion. Songs written or made famous in the 1930’s and 40’s by musical sensations such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and Nat King Cole, will be performed along with pieces from other eras and genres by artists such as The Beatles, Van Morrison and Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.

Java Jive’s members – Mary Lewandoski, Vicki Hibma, Pete Lewandowski, Matt Porter Jim Saltsman and Rolly Smith – entertain audiences throughout West Michigan.

MCC Dean of Arts and Sciences Gary Hauck has enjoyed Java Jive’s performances in a variety of concert and dance venues, including the Grand Rapids Symphony.

“When we decided to hold a Valentine’s Dance at MCC, Java Jive was our first choice of musicians,” Hauck said. “They are wonderfully talented musicians who bring lots of energy to their performance and a variety of musical styles that can either be danced to or listened to in a good concert fashion.”
