Step One: Apply For Admission
Completing and submitting an Admission Application will set up a file in which MCC places student information. Applying is free.

Remember that all new students must activate their MCC Student E-mail in order to register for classes.
Step Two: Arrange for Transcripts
High School Completion, or G.E.D. Completion, are required to receive Financial Aid/Students Loans. Students may complete the Montcalm Community College Transcript Request Form to submit to high schools and all previously attended colleges. Home Schooled Students must submit a Self Declaration form along with a high school transcript. Students may demonstrate their Ability to Benefit in lieu of a high school diploma or G.E.D. but are not financial aid eligible.

Step Three: Complete Assessment
MCC administers the COMPASS assessment to gauge students’ abilities in reading, math, and writing. The scores obtained through the COMPASS assessment may meet course prerequisites. For more details visit COMPASS Schedule and Location.
Step Four: Participate in New Student Orientation
Students must participate in orientation prior to registration at MCC. The requirement for New Student Orientation can be completed anytime after submitting an application for admission. Orientation introduces MCC services and resources available to facilitate student success.
New students may sign up for in-person orientation by completing and submitting the Orientation Registration Form, or they may complete our online orientation program.
Step Five: Meet with an Academic Counselor
Academic Counselors and advisors are available to assist students with scheduling, planning for transfer and other academic endeavors. Call 989-328-1277 to make an appointment. Visit the Academic and Career Counseling site for more information.
Step Six: Register for Classes
Register for classes by completing web registration at the My Montcalm student portal. Review the most current class schedule for course selection.
How to log on and use MyMontcalm
Remember: Class options are greater at the beginning of each registration period so early registration is recommended.
Step Seven: Pay for Classes
Registration is not complete until tuition and fees are paid or the Financial Aid process is complete.

Step Eight: Purchase Textbooks
Montcalm Community College offers a Barnes & Noble bookstore with all the essentials for class. To make purchasing books and supplies easier, bring a current class schedule, student ID and billing statement when you visit the MCC Bookstore.
