It all started with an e-mail. MCC Performing Arts Coordinator Valerie Vander Mark sent a note asking if MCC would be interested in applying to host a unique Smithsonian Institution exhibit about barns: "It seems like a perfect fit for MCC with our Barn Theater and Farmhouse and the fact that MCC is located on what was once farmland." Our application resulted in MCC being one of only six sites selected to host Barn Again! in Michigan. We considered many options to enhance this opportunity, and our imaginations ran wild. Then members of this wonderful community joined the effort, added ideas, and took charge of projects. The planning committee boasts nearly 60 members, all interested in barns and rural living. Now that plans have come to fruition, we are (as usual) impressed and touched by the giving and dedicated nature of the people in this community. We thank everyone who has helped make Barn Again! a true celebration of the enduring values of rural life.
