Science fun day replaces science camp at MCC

Montcalm Community College’s “Camp Discovery” science camp has been cancelled due to low enrollment.

Originally scheduled for July 10-12, “Camp Discovery” is being replaced by a one-day science fun day on July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room E108 in MCC’s Instruction East Building.

Camp Director Heather Wesp said she plans to bring science to life for area 2nd- through 8th-graders.

“We’ll be doing some hands-on activities both indoors and outdoors, including a stream visit.” Wesp said. “Campers will get to take some items home to continue their exploration of our natural world.”

Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks, as well as bug spray, sunscreen, a change of clothes, a towel, and a bag or backpack. The fun day is free, but pre-registration is required. To enroll, e-mail MCC Community Outreach Coordinator Serena Houseman at serenah@montcalm.edu or call her at 989-328-1252.

There’s still time to register for other 2012 MCC summer camps for youths:

  • “Outdoor Recreation Camp” is July 16-20. The cost is $90.
  • “Sports Camp” is July 23-27. The cost is $90.
  • “ACT Test Prep Boot Camp” is July 30-Aug. 3. The cost is $150.
