Voting is open until Oct. 22 for MCC art contest

It’s time to vote for your favorite entry in the “MCC Create!” art contest.

MCC Create! features 27 entries, which are on display in the Instruction North Building and in the south end of the hallway in the Beatrice E. Doser Building in Sidney.

Inspired by Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize, “MCC Create!” features works of art created by MCC faculty, staff, students and alumni. In tune with the contest’s “Think Globally” theme, entries reflect the cultures, people and/or places of the world. Voting is open from Oct. 1-22 and ballots are available at each of the entry displays.

Twenty-seven entries are on display in the Art Gallery in the Instruction North Building and in the south end of the hallway in the Beatrice E. Doser Building on the college’s Sidney campus.

The 14 contributing artists include: Debbie Bell, Julia Blair, Katrina Case-Soper, Sydney Hedrick, Carolyn Johnson, BJ Leeuw, Susan Moss, Claudia Nielsen, Kathy Rasmussen, Doreen Richmond, Billie Sanders, Kyle Shattuck, Grant Tiesner and Suzanna Yoder.

Two entries will be honored with the People’s Choice Awards and one entry will win the Administrator’s Choice Award. Each winner will receive a $500 cash purchase award, and all winning artworks will become part of MCC’s permanent collection.

Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded on Oct. 24 during a luncheon ceremony at noon in rooms D303-305 in MCC’s Beatrice E. Doser Building. Contact MCC Visual Arts Coordinator Carolyn Johnson at cjohnson@montcalm.edu or 989-328-1248 for more information.
