M-TEC Board of Overseers

From the Director's Chair

Welcome to our first M-TEC newsletter. In this issue, I hope to share with you a little about what's been happening here during the past year.

As we adjust to the concept of M-TEC and all that includes, we continue to learn daily what's needed in our community. This helps us to explore opportunities to reach organizations and individuals who may have training requirements or other needs for which we can provide assistance and support. Often, this assistance takes form in providing training for companies and individuals. We also meet needs in the community by providing meeting space.

During the past year, more than 5000 students have walked through the door at M-TEC. Of these, over 1000 participated in training through a local employer. The remainder were involved in college classes, continuing education classes, and business seminars and workshops. That's a lot of people getting trained!

I'm often asked what courses we have to offer to companies and individuals. The list is longer than I have room to tell here. We have over 5000 individual self-paced courses available to the public. Many of these are online and can be completed at M-TEC or anywhere the individual has Internet access. Some courses have to be taken strictly at M-TEC as they are housed on our servers. Also, we offer traditional classroom formats in many areas.

M-TEC has a multitude of courses available in these general topic areas: Basic Skills, Leadership, Motivation, Teamwork, Personnel Issues, Communication, Manufacturing Technologies, Quality, Problem Solving, Customer Service, Accounting, Change, Electrical, CAD, Machining, Safety, HVAC, Information Systems, and many more. Our catalog will be released soon. If you are looking for specific training, please contact us. We may have it available. If not, we will work with you to find a provider that can offer the training that suits your needs.

If you'd like to learn more about training opportunities, please contact us at mtec@montcalm.edu or by phone at (616) 754-7706.
