The Mary Free
Bed Guild of Grand Rapids has established two annual scholarships
for minority students pursuing degrees in nursing or rehabilitation
therapy programs. Two scholarships of up to $17,500 each will be
available for education-related expenses.
The Barry
M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation
has created a scholarship program to attract students into careers
in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Scholarships
are awarded on the basis of merit to students who are sophomores
or juniors during the current academic year and who have excellent
academic records and demonstrated interest in and potential for
careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. The
scholarship covers eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books and
room and board to a maximum of $7.500 per academic year. For additional

The Flat River Community
Players has established a $500 Flat River Community
Players' Scholarship to facilitate the involvement of college students

The
Institute of International Education (IIE) is accepting
online applications for the National Security Education Program
Boren Undergraduate Scholarships for study abroad. The scholarships
provide funding for summer, semester, or year long study in areas
of the world that are critical to U.S. national security, but are
underrepresented in study abroad.
The National
Scholars Honor Society grants scholarships to highly qualified
achievers from all academic pursuits. Scholarship eligibility is
determined for each new applicant at the time of acceptance into
The National Scholars Honor Society. Members can apply online for
The Benjamin Franklin Scholarship, $5000; The Alexander Bell Scholarship,
$4000; The Abraham Lincoln Scholarship, $5000; and The Thomas Jefferson
Scholarship, $5000. Scholarships are funded by private grants and
membership fees.
The
American Chemical Society awards over 100 scholarships to
African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students pursuing
undergraduate college degrees in chemical sciences.
The Talbot's
Charitable Foundation awards up to 55 scholarships to women
currently resident in the United Stated who have earned a high school
diploma or GED on or before September 1993 and plan to enroll at
an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical
school.
The Grand
Rapids Community Foundation Scholarship is awarded to Kent
County residents and range from $250 - $3,000 based on academics,
financial need, a statement of aspirations and goals, and the applicant's
community involvement.
In keeping with Coca-Cola's
long standing commitment to post-secondary education, you could
be eligible to receive one of 400 $1,000 and $2,000 scholarships
to be awarded in 2008. Eligible applicants must be nominated by
a college campus official, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident,
have demonstrated academic success, have completed community service
within the previous 12 months as validated by their college nominator,
be planning to enroll in at least two courses during the next term
at a two-year institution, and not be children of

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation (JRF) raises funds for and awards
scholarships annually to women thirty-five years of age and older
who are pursuing a technical/vocational degree, an associate degree,
or a first bachelor degree. Applicants must be low-income and fall
within income guidelines. To learn more about the criteria for these
scholarships, contact MCC's Counseling and Career Services Office
in the Administration/Library Building or visit the Jeanette
Rankin Foundation website.
The American
Cancer Society College Scholarship is worth $1,000 toward
tuition for Michigan resident with a history of cancer. The scholarship
will be applied to an undergraduate degree from an accredited Michigan
university, college or community college. For additional information,

The Morris K.
Udall Scholarship seeks to reward undergraduates with the
commitment and potential to make significant contributions to the
fields of environment, tribal health, or tribal governance. Scholarship
recipients receive up to $5,000, or the cost of tuition, fees, books,

The Jack
Kent Cooke Foundation will award approximately 30 scholarships
worth up to $30,000 to outstanding students transferring to four-year
colleges and universities in fall 2008. Each scholarship will cover
a portion of the education costs, including tuition, living expenses,
