| APPRENTICESHIP
TRAINING |
Students
must be employed and sponsored by their employer and a training
agreement must be set up between the employer, the employee,
and the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. MCC coordinates
the training plan and provides related instruction.
Each 16-week semester usually includes one to three courses
of apprenticeship-related instruction. A competency
examination or official transcripts may result in a waiver
of a required course. The employer establishes
entrance requirements that are in accordance with the Bureau
of Apprenticeship and Training standards. Continuation
in the job training certificate depends on employment status
and achievement levels. The sample schedule of related
instruction below is for apprentice tool-and-die makers.
The actual requirements may vary with the training agreement.
Instruction for machinists, electricians, plastic mold designers,
mold-and-die makers and welders are also available.
