What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is a web-based learning management system which creates an online environment or "online classroom." Students that enroll in a course that uses Blackboard are automatically added to the class section.

How do I get into Blackboard?

Click Login

Enter your Student ID number for your username; it is on your class list.
You must use your student ID.

Enter blackboard as your password if this is the first time you are logging in.
If you have used Blackboard before, use your old password.

Click Login

What if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, click Login and at the next screen click Forgot Password? at the bottom of the login box. Follow the directions to change your password.

Note: This will only work if you have a valid email address in Blackboard. If you registered for classes with an email address, that email address has been entered into your Blackboard account.

I know my Blackboard username and password are correct, but I can't log in.

Try making these changes to Internet Explorer 6.

In Internet Explorer, Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab. The Internet should be selected for the Web content zone. Click on Custom Level. Scroll down to scripting near the bottom and click the radio button to Enable Active Scripting. Click Ok, and Ok again. Close Internet Explorer and reopen Internet Explorer and try to log in.

If you are still having problems:

Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab. Click on Restore Defaults. Click Ok. Close Internet Explorer and reopen Internet Explorer and try to log in.

If you use a different browser, these items may be in different areas.

If you are still having problems, and have Windows XP:

Click on Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools. Click on Disk Cleanup and clean out temporary internet files

Will I find my class on Blackboard?

After you log in to Blackboard, the courses that you are enrolled in that are using Blackboard should be listed on the opening screen.

What do I do if I know my course uses Blackboard but it is not listed when I log in to Blackboard?

Some instructors do not make their courses available to students until the first day of class. Log in to Blackboard again on the first day of class, and check if your class is listed. If it isn't listed, call MCC's Help Desk toll free at 1-877-328-2111 ext. 246 or 1-989-328-1246
