This program is for students who desire training that satisfies state requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA), Head Start programs, day care centers, home daycare and related areas. Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution are encouraged to consult an MCC counselor or academic advisor.
Why This Degree
The Associate of Applied Science Degree program in Early Childhood Development prepares students to be child care professionals in a licensed child care center where they are expected to organize and lead activities for young children. This degree also provides foundation for continued study at the bachelor-degree level landing a job as a child care worker, preschool teacher, or a public school teaching assistant earning $17,440 to 37,270 per year.
Transfer Agreements and Guides
The Business Administration Professional Track transfer agreement with Ferris State University allows students in the Early Childhood Development program to complete 90 credits at MCC, 30 credits at Ferris State University, and earn both an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development from MCC and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University.
