MCC seeks applicants for president

The search for Montcalm Community College’s sixth president is under way.

The search is being assisted by Dr. Preston Pulliams, Ed.D., President, Gold Hill Associates. As Chief Executive Officer of the college, the President reports to the Board of Trustees and has the broad responsibility for the operation of the college.

The presidential search committee is being led by MCC Board of Trustees Treasurer Roger Thelen, of Stanton. In addition Chairperson Karen Carbonelli, of Gowen, and Vice Chairperson Bob Marston, of Sheridan, are serving on the committee, along with a variety of individuals from the community who represent various interests.

The process includes a nationwide search for the college’s next top leader.

Selection of semi-finalists and initial interviews are slated for early October and finalists are expected to be named by the end of October, with MCC’s Board of Trustees approving the slate of candidates in early November. In-person, on-campus interviews are tentatively planned to begin around Nov. 18.

With Gold Hill’s assistance, the Board intends to have a new president in place by mid-December, creating a smooth transition in leadership.

MCC President Bob Ferrentino announced his retirement during the college’s Board of Trustees meeting Nov. 13, 2018. He will retire effective Dec. 31, 2019. He has served as the college’s president since July 2009.

“Bob has built a strong team here,” Carbonelli said. “Everybody has focused so much on student success and learning and it has really worked to move the college ahead. We are well positioned for the future.”
