MCC pact with Purdue University Fort Wayne offers students transfer options

Montcalm Community College (MCC) and Purdue University Fort Wayne recently signed an agreement that gives students more education options.

An articulation agreement between the two institutions allows students from MCC to transfer the credits they earned from their Associate of Applied Science degree toward a Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Purdue Fort Wayne.

MCC President Dr. Stacy H. Young said the college is excited to partner with Purdue Fort Wayne to help students achieve their dreams of college completion.

“Partnerships like this are critical for our students as many of them do want to transfer after they have attended MCC,” Dr. Young said.

“Articulation agreements give students a great advantage to acquire needed credentials by offering a seamless process for them as they move through the educational system from one institution to another. It is important to us that students not lose time or credits in the transition, and this agreement will assure that the transfer goes smoothly,” she added.

“This is a great opportunity for our students,” said MCC Vice President for Academic Affairs Rob Spohr. “This articulation agreement covers all of the programs that are high wage and high demand. Students can start at MCC, finish at Purdue and go out and get a really good job making a great wage.”

MCC students can transfer up to 88 credit hours toward their bachelor’s degree. Thirty-two credit hours must be completed at Purdue Fort Wayne. A total of 120 credit hours is required to graduate. Students have the option of five concentrations in business, information systems, information technology, supervision and leadership, or an interdisciplinary track.

“We are excited to begin working with students from MCC. Our Bachelor of Applied Science degree requirements are completely online, which allows students to take the classes without having to relocate,” said Carl Drummond, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management at Purdue Fort Wayne. “Students can complete a Purdue degree, and the excellent education that accompanies it, without the typical barriers that concern out-of-state students.”
