MCC honors Kurt Kemperman for his leadership

Montcalm Community College recently presented its 2023 Leadership Award to Creative Director Kurt Kemperman of Greenville.

Kemperman joined MCC in November 2018. As creative director, he is responsible for developing the visual representation of the college’s identity by managing design and production services that ensure a consistent, professional and appropriate institutional brand.

MCC President Stacy H. Young, Ph.D., recognized Kemperman for his work.

“Kurt literally touches everyone on our campus in a really positive way,” Dr. Young said. “He has a can-do attitude. I don’t know if I have ever heard him say no to a request. He makes everyone feel welcome.

“I think he volunteers for almost everything we do,” she said. “He showcases the college in a really positive way and makes us all look better.”

Kemperman was nominated and selected by his peers. One nominator wrote, “Kurt has a great attitude and he regularly walks round campus, pleasantly greeting students and faculty. Even if he weren’t handing out chocolate, everyone would still be happy to see him.”

Another nomination stated, “Kurt takes great pride in his work and doing the best for MCC.”

Kemperman holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Northern Michigan University.

MCC’s Leadership Award was established in 2002. It recognizes a leader based on noteworthy work with, or on behalf of, MCC; leadership and professional achievement; and service to MCC. The recipient is nominated and chosen by his or her colleagues.
