MCC offers a variety of noncredit classes in March

 

Explore new art skills, learn CPR, and experience local and world history during Montcalm Community College’s March career development and personal enrichment courses.

Art

  • “Adventure Art” is a class for younger students and will focus on art activities to foster a new look at the world around them. Using both traditional and non-traditional mediums and art supplies, students will be given the opportunity to make art such as rock monsters, doodle art, hand puppets and more. This class is on Wednesdays from March 16 through April 13 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. The class is taught by Sue Moss, and the cost is $30.
  • “Pastel Drawing and More” is for students ages 16 and older. In this introductory class, students will explore the world of pastels. The three sessions will be split between soft chalk and oil pastels. Basic techniques will be covered along with painting techniques using these two dynamic mediums. This class is on Wednesdays from March 23 through April 13 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. The class is taught by Sue Moss, and the cost is $44.

Health

  • “Heartsaver CPR AED” is an instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR and how to relieve choking in adults, children and infants. This course is taught by Jason Zamarron on Wednesday, March 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $75 and includes the cost of the book, mask and card.

History

  • Cultivate your understanding of what art is and how it is created in drawings, paintings, sculptures, and architecture as we explore the elements and principles of creativity in “Understanding and Appreciating Art.” Participants will also be perusing the styles and eras of art history, viewing some of the world’s greatest masterpieces, and seeing amazing creations from all corners of the world. This class is on Tuesdays March 1 through March 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. The class is taught by Dr. Gary Hauck, and the cost is $99.
  • “Survey of World Religions” will review the origins, tenets and beliefs of world religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This class is on Thursdays from March 3 through March 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. The class is taught by Dr. Gary Hauck, and the cost is $99.
  • Explore the historic schools of Greenville, Stanton, Lakeview, Sheridan, and Montcalm County’s 20 townships in “Historic Schools of Montcalm County.” The class is March 7 and 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. This class is taught by Dana Kenneth Johnson, and the cost is $29.
  • Explore the historic schools of Ludington, Scottville, Custer, Fountain, Freesoil, and Mason County’s 15 townships in “Historic Schools of Mason County.” The class is March 14 and 16 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. This class is taught by Dana Kenneth Johnson, and the cost is $29.
  • Explore the historic schools of Muskegon, Montague, Whitehall, and Muskegon County’s 15 townships in “Historic Schools of Muskegon County.” The class is March 21 and 23 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. This class is taught by Dana Kenneth Johnson, and the cost is $29.
  • Explore the historic schools of Crystal Valley, Hart, Pentwater, Shelby, and Oceana County’s 16 townships in “Historic Schools of Oceana County.” The class is March 28 and 30 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville Campus. This class is taught by Dana Kenneth Johnson, and the cost is $29.
