Career CruisingCareer Cruising is a complete career guidance system available to MCC students. At the CareerCruising website you can take a comprehensive career interest inventory and supplement it with information about your own abilities to generate a list of occupations. Please note that the list of occupations are just suggestions – no inventory can tell you what you should do. If you have narrowed your interest to certain careers, CareerCruising offers a comprehensive database of occupations, including job outlook and salary information for Michigan, other states and the national average. Furthermore, CareerCruising provides interviews with people in the different professions, offering glimpses into what life is like in their careers.

John holland self-directed searchThe John Holland Self-Directed Search (SDS) is a workbook that leads students through the process of self-exploration.The SDS provides narrative to help students explore career options. It offers an occupations listing that includes information on thousands of occupations and leads students through a self-assessment in which they rank statements as “like” or “dislike” that are based on activities, competencies, occupations and self-estimates. The results are compiled by a summary code that can be used to discover how their special pattern of interests, self-estimates and competencies resemble the patterns of interests and competencies that many occupations demand.
