Congratulations to Christa Baldwin, the Montcalm Community College Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award winner! The award was presented on May 5 during the 56th Commencement Ceremony on MCC's Sidney campus.

 

Christa Baldwin is a world-renowned horse trainer and judge. It is her lifelong passion, having begun training and judging when she was 16 years old.

 

Christa attended Montcalm Community College from 1974 through 1976. In addition to her coursework, she played on the women’s basketball team. She says she had excellent instructors and appreciated the support of the college as well as the camaraderie with all of the students and fellow athletes.

 

Professionally, Christa and her husband, Rick, own and operate Baldwin Quarter Horses in Stanton. She has been honored in the Quarter Horse industry with several awards, most notably as the 2016 American Quarter Horse Association Professional Horsewoman of the Year and as the 2008 Michigan Quarter Horse Association Most Valuable Professional.

 

Christa has deep roots in the community, sharing her time and talents as a volunteer with a variety of organizations and causes such as 4-H and church activities.

 

Through this award, Montcalm Community College celebrates Christa Baldwin, the recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award.
