MCC’s cross country runners achieve personal bests in Indiana

Montcalm Community College’s cross country runners battled a rain soaked and muddy course, with two running personal bests, at the Charger Invite in Plymouth, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Annette Fare led the women’s squad, placing 9th overall with a personal best time of 20:27. She was followed by Carley Lynch in 23:14 – a season best time, newcomer Elizabeth Sheahan in 23:31, Georgia Jurden in 24:20 – a season best time and Alyssa Unger in 25:32

In the mens race, Andrew Hardy finished 15th overall running a personal best time of 27:57. Jerald Brownell also ran a personal best time of 31:54

This was a true cross country course,” coach Kevin Sweeney said. The course was muddy and wet, and it was cool and rainy all day.  It was a great day to run! Our Centurions took advantage of the conditions, ran hard and did a great job competing.

The next race for the Centurions is the Region XII Championships being held in Byron Center on Friday, Oct. 27.
