Recreation

 

Recreational activities bring people together and provide opportunities for social interaction, volunteering, inclusion and diversity, which all contribute to building stronger and more connected communities and enhance education. MCC offers a variety of recreational opportunities on its Sidney campus.

 

 

Recreation Fees and Passes

 

Individual rates, multi-visit memberships, and group discounts are available to use MCC’s open fitness center, open gym, open swim, water walking and water aerobics. Membership cards are available for $5 each, and include access to our pool, gym, and fitness center.

MCC is an official SilverSneakers location. That means if you’re 65 or older you’re free to move at no cost to you through select Medicare plans. Please contact the Recreation Department to find out if you're eligible and enroll today.

 

PoolThere are programs for everyone – infants through senior citizens – in MCC’s NCAA-sized indoor pool. The pool is available for a variety of uses including open swim, lap swim, water walking and water aerobics, and “Learn to Swim” classes are available through the college’s Career and Personal Development offerings. In addition, users may rent the facility for personal pool parties.

Fitness CenterImprove your fitness level in MCC’s air-conditioned, self-directed fitness center. MCC’s Fitness Center offers quality fitness equipment, treadmills, elliptical trainers, bicycles and a free-weight area. Personal orientation by trained staff is available upon request. Users must be aged 16 or older and must sign a liability waiver at the Recreation Desk prior to use of the Fitness Center.

GymnasiumEnjoy activities including basketball, volleyball, walking and more in MCC’s Gymnasium.

CornholeCornhole equipment may be borrowed at no charge at the MCC Recreation desk for use during regular open gym hours, and Recreation & Fitness Center monitors are available to set up the playing area.

BadmintonBadminton equipment may be borrowed at no charge at the MCC Recreation desk for use during regular open gym hours, and Recreation & Fitness Center monitors are available to set up the playing area.

PickleballPickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and is played with a paddle and plastic ball with holes. MCC has two indoor courts, and equipment may be borrowed at no charge at the MCC Recreation desk. Open pickleball is Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. in the gymnasium on MCC’s Sidney campus. You may also drop in during regular gym hours to play.

Climbing Wall Experience rock climbing for fun and fitness on MCC’s indoor climbing wall. The climbing wall features an automatic belay system. Users younger than aged 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All patrons must sign a liability waiver at the Recreation Desk prior to use of the Climbing Wall, and they must have their belt and shoes checked by the monitor before climbing. The college has belts and shoes available for use.

Free Indoor WalkingSeniors aged 55 and older may join us for free use of our gymnasium for walking during regular open gym hours.

Disc Golf MCC's disc course is free to use. Discs are available to rent at MCC’s Recreation desk, in the Activities Building, and are free for MCC students, faculty and staff with a valid MCC ID, and any community member with a valid MCC Recreation pass. All others may use a disc for a $2 fee.

Course maps and score sheets are also available at the Recreation Desk in the Activities Building or at Hole #1, located between the tennis courts and College Drive, on MCC’s Sidney campus. 

TennisSharpen your tennis skills on three recently resurfaced tennis courts available for use on MCC’s Sidney campus. Tennis racquets and balls are available for users to borrow during regular hours, or users may bring their own equipment. There is no cost to use the tennis courts.

Kenneth J. Lehman Nature Trails Take a hike on the Kenneth J. Lehman Nature Trails to experience nature’s beauty.

Lena Meijer Heartland Trail ConnectorA trail spur provides walking and bicycle access from the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail in Sidney to MCC’s Sidney campus.
