MCC offers summer camps for youths 2024

It’s time to catch a thief during Montcalm Community College’s summer camps.

The “It’s a Mystery Art Camp” offers kids a fun exploration of art through solving a mystery. Camp Director Sue Moss invites students to become artistic sleuths, solving creative mysteries and unlocking the secrets of self-expression.

“At this camp, young artists will use some clue finding skills to solve the mystery of the lost painting while looking at famous paintings and creating works of art using various mediums to make their own mysterious artwork,” Moss said.

Last year, more than 300 kids took part in MCC’s summer camps.

“I love MCC summer camps,” Moss said. “There is great energy when we invite younger members of our community to come to our campus. What better way to introduce ourselves to future students than summer camp. For me, letting children create art and just be messy in the process is very fulfilling.”

The “It’s a Mystery Art Camp” is for third- through fifth-grade students. Students will enjoy exploring painting, drawing and hands-on clue finding. It takes place on July 8 at MCC’s Greenville campus from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $50, and students should bring a sack lunch.

Pre-registration is required for all of MCC’s summer camps. For more information and a link to register, visit montcalm.edu/camps, call MCC’s Greenville campus at 616-754-7706, Ext. 7, or email community@montcalm.edu.

MCC also offers summer camps scholarships, which will pay 50% of the cost of up to three camps per child per year, and there is no limit on the number of children per family. This scholarship provides support to families experiencing financial hardship. Funds are provided by the Montcalm Community College Foundation. Apply online at montcalm.edu/camps.
