MCC Volleyball Defeats Alpena

The Centurion volleyball team rallied back after dropping the first two sets to defeat Alpena Community College with scores of 19-25, 21-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-13 in Alpena on Sept. 19.

Montcalm Community College started off the night with a slow start as they dropped the first two sets. The Centurions rallied back by hitting an impressive .300 in set three. The momentum continued for the Centurions as the team was able to put away 16 kills with 6 errors on 38 attempts to take set four. The fifth set started off in a deficit, as the Centurions found themselves trailing 0-4. The Centurions were able to battle back to win the fifth and deciding set, 15-13.

Freshman Piper Groesser led the team in total points, 13, as she led the team in service aces, 4, and picked up 9 kills and a block. Leading the offense was Freshman Maia Sexton who recorded a team high 10 kills. Tiana Whitacre recorded her third career double-double as she picked up 11 digs and 36 assists. Freshman Middle Blocker Kelsey Antcliff led the defense for the Centurions as she picked up a career high 13 digs and a team high 2 blocks.
