Two Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn All-Conference Recognition

 

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association released their all-conference teams for the 2023 season this afternoon (Nov. 2), and Montcalm Community College placed two members across the three all-conference teams.

Freshman setter Tiana Whitacre earned MCCAA Northern Conference Second-Team honors after posting an outstanding first season. Whitacre was the only Centurion who started all 22 matches this year, and played in all 77 sets. She led the team in assists (551) and service aces (29), while being third in digs at 164. Whitacre recorded a triple-double (10 kills, 33 assists, 11 digs) in the Centurions first victory of the season against South Suburban College. She also recorded 5 double-doubles on the season (assists and digs). Whitacre recorded a kill in 18 of the teams 22 matches this year, 15 or more assists in 20 matches this year and at least one ace in 11 matches this year. 

Freshman outside hitter Lauren Rowe was also named to the MCCAA Northern Conference Second-Team, as she was the top attacker for the Centurions this year. Over her 22 appearances, Rowe was first on the team with 173 kills, and led the team with 2.28 kills per set. She was also second on the team in digs with 165. Rowe tallied double-digit kills in 7 games this season and was also named the MCCAA Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of August 21.

The Montcalm Community College Centurions completed the 2023 season with an overall record of 7-15 and an MCCAA Northern Conference record of 3-9. For rosters, schedules and season stats visit montcalm.edu/athletics.
