Financial Aid Guide
Your file is complete once you receive an award notification from the Financial Aid Office through your my.montcalm.edu email account. Without an award notification, be prepared to use your own financial resources when paying your tuition and purchasing books.
Priority for Financial Aid will be given to students based on the date of their completed file, so it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
Apply for Admission
Activate MCC student email account
Your MCC student email account will be your main contact with Montcalm Community College’s Financial Aid Office. Financial Aid will send you an e-mail via this account to tell you whether you have received a financial aid award.
Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) helps the financial aid office determine what type of financial aid you are eligible for based on your financial situation. Please use the IRS data retrieval option on the income section and enter MCC's Federal School code. If you are a dependent student, then you will also need most of the above information for your parent(s).
To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will need:
Submit verification documents (if requested)
Submit the following verification documents only if they are requested by the Financial Aid Office:
Verification Worksheet
Federal IRS Tax Transcript or IRS Non-filing Letter
Access NETPARTNER to review document and award status
You may use the NETPARTNER portal for your main point of reference concerning your financial aid award and document status.
Apply for student loans (if needed)
If you wish to receive student loans, follow the Student Loan guide to help you complete your application. Student loans are not mandatory, but they are an option if no other aid is available.
Financial aid disbursement verification
Instructors will be asked to electronically submit participation information to the Financial Aid office two times through each semester. (This will include on-campus and online classes.)
For students reported as ‘Participating’, the Financial Aid office will use the information from the instructors to pay the student aid. For more details, please see the Financial Aid tab on the my.montcalm.edu website.
Due to Federal Regulations, one semester loans must be paid in two separate disbursements.
Students will receive an email notification to their MCC student email address, identifying whether a check will be available for pickup or if there has been a change in the student’s eligibility. Please consistently check your MCC student email.
