How to Pay for College

Paying for college doesn’t have to be overwhelming—we’re here to make it easier! MCC’s low tuition rates, combined with MCCF scholarships, community scholarships, and state and federal financial aid, help make college highly affordable. Reducing financial stress is key to your success, so explore the many ways you can fund your education today.

Tuition & Fees

MCC is committed to keeping higher education accessible and affordable. Our tuition and fees are among the lowest in the region, with flexible payment options and financial aid available to help you reach your goals without breaking the bank.

Financial Aid & Loans

Financial aid helps cover college costs through grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans—some of which you don’t have to pay back. Student loans are borrowed money that must be repaid with interest, so borrow only what you need and understand the terms before accepting.

MCC Foundation Scholarships

The MCC Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to help make college more affordable. These awards are based on factors like academic achievement, financial need, and program of study, and they do not need to be repaid.

Community College Guarantee

The CC Guarantee provides tuition and mandatory fee coverage for in-district Michigan high school graduates who enroll full-time at a community or tribal college within 15 months of graduation regardless of GPA or family income. Pell-eligible students may also receive a $1,000 bonus to help cover additional college expenses.

Michigan Reconnect

Michigan Reconnect helps Michigan residents age 21+ earn a degree or certificate by covering in-district tuition and fees at community colleges. It’s a last-dollar scholarship, so you pay less after other aid is applied.

MCC proudly supports veterans and active-duty service members with education benefits, including tuition assistance, GI Bill® programs, and dedicated resources to help you transition to college life. Our team is here to guide you through eligibility and application steps.

Montcalm Community College’s Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was recently named a 5-Star chapter after completing all the necessary requirements during the 2025 calendar year.
