Watch your future bloom at MCC’s Spring Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, on MCC’s Sidney campus.

The event will feature campus tours, program showcases, information on student clubs and student housing, a fun scavenger hunt and free food for all attendees. In addition, financial aid representatives, counselors and student services staff will be on hand to answer questions.

MCC Admissions Representatives Taryn Muilenburg and Kayla Beckett are excited to welcome the public, not just prospective students.

“With the Community College Guarantee gaining momentum, now is the time for students to be considering community college as their first step.” Muilenburg said. “At our 2026 Spring Open House, students can expect to leave with a clearer path to their future.”

“We are so excited to invite the community to come see our Sidney campus,” Beckett added. “We’ll have lunch covered with burgers on the grill. I think attendees will also enjoy our scavenger hunt and its fun prizes.”

Upon arrival, attendees should enter the Donald C. Burns Administration Building for registration, at which time they’ll be entered into a drawing for a $500 scholarship. Students who pre-registered ahead of time will also receive a complimentary swag bag upon check-in.

New this year will be campus tours led by area high school representatives. Students from Lakeview High School, Central Montcalm High School and Tri County High School can find their fellow classmates and join them on a tour of MCC’s campus, led by one of their peers.

While making their way through campus, attendees will encounter representatives from various programs, including exercise science and skilled trades. Attendees are encouraged to explore as much of campus as possible and keep their eyes peeled for eggs scattered throughout for our Easter-themed scavenger hunt. Inside the eggs will be fun treats and some eggs will feature special prizes.

“Small businesses around the county have been generous in their partnership with our Spring Open House,” Muilenburg said. “Some have even donated gift certificates and prizes for our campus Easter egg scavenger hunt.”

Students interested in living on campus in MCC’s new student housing building will have the opportunity to speak with Kelly Patmore, MCC’s Director of Housing & Student Life, and complete the housing application. Set to open in the Fall 2026 semester, the new residence hall will offer an affordable, safe, and vibrant living environment designed to support full-time students and student-athletes. The three-story facility will accommodate up to 84 residents and aims to provide a high standard of care and community-focused living experience.

Students eager to begin their education sooner won’t have to wait until fall. Registration for summer classes remains open through May 31, and those interested are encouraged to learn more at the Spring Open House.

“This open house is not just for those planning to start in the fall,” Beckett said. “Summer registration is already open, and with classes beginning the first week of June, there’s still time to get started earlier.”

Pre-registration for MCC’s Spring Open House is now open. Visit montcalm.edu/events for more information and to register.
