Montcalm Community College and the MCC Foundation recently awarded $242,250 in scholarships and aid for the 2025-2026 academic year. 

More than 160 students received awards to support their pursuit of degrees and certificates at MCC. 

“The MCC Foundation is proud to support the college's mission of creating opportunity through education,” said Lisa Lund, Executive Director for the MCCF. “Scholarships are one vital way to ensure students have a lifeline to reach their goals. These awards send a powerful message that someone believes in them.” 

The MCCF celebrated its scholarship recipients during the MCCF Scholarship Celebration Dinner on Oct. 8 on the college’s Sidney campus, sponsored by Sidney State Bank.  

The celebratory dinner was headlined by the appearance of guest speaker and MCC Alumna, Emily Throop. Throop walked the audience through her journey in higher education and spoke on the theme of the night, which was “All In.” Throop credits her success to her all-in attitude, both at MCC and Central Michigan University, where she’s currently studying for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and is expected to graduate in December. 

“MCC has the versatility to help us all reach our goals, even though they vary, just like us,” Throop said. “But, in order to be successful, the key is to put every effort into the experience, to be all-in on your goals, just like MCC and the Foundation is all-in on supporting you. 

“I can tell you firsthand that MCC is supportive by offering you an education that sets you up for success in the workforce or university-level courses,” she said. “The Foundation is all-in on supporting your pursuit of higher education as they have shown through their gracious financial support that we get to celebrate tonight. So, as you thank the donors and staff that made tonight possible, think about how you’re all-in on your goals.”
