Learn about stained glass, watercolor painting, AI, playing music and more during Montcalm Community College’s October noncredit courses.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to make a stained-glass creation? Join us for our Fall & Halloween Stained Glass class, during which participants can choose from a pumpkin, ghost or acorn and create their own seasonal suncatchers. No experience is necessary; all glass pieces are pre-cut and ready to foil. This class will take place on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $65. 

The MCC Alumni & Friends Choir will present a concert of Sounds of the Sixties on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Greenville High School Performing Arts Center. Choir rehearsals begin Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus and will run for seven Saturdays, with a final, on-stage rehearsal Friday, Nov. 20. The cost is $15. 

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere — but what is it, and how can you use it? Join us for our Practical AI course for an engaging, discussion-based introduction to AI as we explore its history, demonstrate today’s most popular AI tools and discuss practical ways AI can help with work, school, creativity and everyday life. Get your questions answered, learn about cybersecurity and tips for using AI safely and responsibly. No technical background is required. This class takes place on Oct. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $35. 

During our Waxed Watercolors class, instructor Sue Moss will showcase how to preserve your watercolor paintings with wax. Participants will create a small study in watercolors, adhere to a panel and wax to complete. Paper, panel, wax and gloss medium will be provided; students should bring watercolor paints and watercolor brushes. This class will take place on Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $45. 

Are you hopelessly busy but still want to learn how to play an instrument? Join us for one of our three Instant Instrument for Hopelessly Busy People classes this month. These classes will teach you quick secrets to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn basic chords and be able to play some of your favorite songs. Class registration fee includes an online book, online follow-up lessons, a recording of the class and an optional periodic question and answer session. The classes will be online via Zoom and will include both hands-on and lecture demonstration. Our Instant Piano class will take place Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The Instant Guitar class will be Oct. 10 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and the Instant Ukulele class will be Oct. 29 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The cost for each class is $65. 

Discover the benefits of yoga in a practice that is accessible to everyone in our Chair Yoga & Yoga Nidra class. Chair yoga is deeply physical yet restorative and can be done anytime at any age. Learn simple stretches, movements, breathwork and relaxation techniques you can incorporate into your day, especially if you have a desk job. The following Yoga Nidra session, often called sleeping yoga, will invite participants to calm their nervous system, release tension and invite deep rest and relaxation. Participants should bring a yoga mat, blanket or towel to lie down on. Chairs will be provided. This class will take place on Oct. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $45. 

Looking to take the next step with your small business? Our class on Forming Your LLC or DBA will cover the differences between a sole proprietorship, doing business as (DBA), and a limited liability company (LLC). Attendees will also learn about the paperwork required to form an LLC and how to maintain it. The class will be taught in-person by Marie Elliott, SBDC Senior Business Consultant. The class will take place on Oct. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on MCC’s Greenville campus. There is no cost for this course, but pre-registration is required. 

Spend a relaxing morning creating a fall-themed acrylic painting during our Coffee and Canvas Workshop. This instructor-led workshop includes all materials, freshly brewed coffee and treats. This class will take place on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on MCC’s Greenville campus. The cost is $45.
