Montcalm Community College honored Connie Stewart with the distinction of Vice President Emeritus in recognition of her distinguished service and lasting contributions to the college during the June 23 Centurion Awards Banquet.
MCC President Dr. Bradley J. Barrick recognized Stewart during a gathering of former award recipients and college dignitaries in the Stanley and Blanche Ash Technology and Learning Center on the college’s Greenville campus.
“Connie’s journey reflects the very mission of Montcalm Community College,” Dr. Barrick said. “As a young mother working full-time and raising two children, she came to MCC seeking an education that would help advance her career. Five years later, she earned her Associate Degree in Business Administration and, as she often says, MCC changed her life.”
After a successful career in business and human resources, Stewart returned to MCC in 2011 as Director of Human Resources. She went on to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer before becoming Interim President for a one-year term, and then returning to her Vice President position until her retirement in December 2025.
Throughout her leadership, Stewart helped guide strategic planning, campus improvements, operational excellence, and student success initiatives.
“Most importantly, she never forgot her own experience as an MCC student and remained committed to helping others achieve their dreams through education,” Dr. Barrick said.
“From student to administrator, Connie’s story is a powerful example of transformation, dedication, and service. Her leadership has strengthened MCC and positively impacted countless students, employees, and community members,” he said.
“Today, as we recognize Connie as an MCC Vice President Emeritus, we celebrate not only her years of service and leadership but also the legacy she leaves behind: a stronger college, a stronger community, and generations of students whose lives have been changed because of her dedication,” Dr. Barrick said. “Connie, thank you for your outstanding service and lasting contributions to Montcalm Community College.”
