The Centurions bowling teams hovered around the middle of the field at the Muskegon Community College Invitational Friday, Jan. 16, held at Northway Lanes in Muskegon.
MCC’s women’s bowling team placed fifth out of nine teams in attendance with a total score of 3,252. Kellogg Community College took the top spot with a final score of 4,112. The Centurions were in the middle of the pack during individual games, but grew their totals steadily in the baker blocks to make up ground on the competition with scores of 245, 288, 292 and 330 to finish.
The women’s team was led by sophomore Madyson Hartman (St. Louis, Mich.), who finished with a three-game series of 452 (177, 138, 137). Freshman Madison Moran (Stanton, Mich.) finished just behind Hartman with a series of 442 (150, 124, 168).
The Centurions’ men’s team placed seventh out of 10 teams at the Muskegon CC Invitational with a team score of 4,099. Jackson Community College placed first with a team score of 4,614. The Centurions performed admirably in the baker blocks, including posting the second-highest baker block of the tournament with a score of 422, but lagged behind in the combined individual games.
MCC sophomore Bradon Krohn (Fruitport, Mich.) led the Centurions individually with a three-game series of 637, good for second place overall, after bowling games of 193, 206 and 238. Krohn was narrowly edged by Evan Daly of Mid Michigan College, who led the field with a series of 659 after bowling games of 224, 209 and 226. Freshman Austin Wichert (Vestaburg, Mich.) finished behind Krohn with a series of 561 (178, 183, 200).
MCC’s bowling teams will return to the lanes Friday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Jackson College Invitational.
